If you've never completed a Configurations box, may I say it is a thoroughly engaging and rewarding experience with endless possibilities and a great way to show off vintage treasures.

Here's a link to Tim's video where he explains how they work and provides some clever tips and tricks on how to complete one.

Since my piece was created as a show sample, I used mostly Idea-ology trinkets: Silverware, Key, Keyhole, Watch Cameo, Foundry Frame, Salvaged Dolls, Heirloom Rose, Decorative Dome, Apothecary Vials, and Foundations (feet).

It features several new products--the Metal Stars, a Finial, and a Quote Chip along with the new Design Tapes which were used to finish the box edges, his fabulous paper stash called Memoranda, a Clipping Sticker and the butterfly is from Botanical Layers.

I chose to remove some of the compartment boxes and flipped two over using the backs instead. I varied the depth of some boxes by adding foam core inside then covering with paper.

That's mirrored paper behind the butterfly, the antennae were made from paint brush hairs and I used a crystal Curio Knob with a dyed Crinkle Ribbon for the topper.

The pen nib is the real deal (from a bank), there's vintage glitter in the Apothecary Vial and the Decorative Dome contains a vintage costume diamond button and some Baubles.

The Heirloom Rose rests inside a rusty bottle cap that I brought to life by painting just the edges.

I don't want to get too bogged down in all the details, I hope the pictures give you some idea of the techniques I used but if you have any questions do feel free to ask and I'd be more than happy to help.

If you'd like to know how I finished the Salvaged Dolls, I've described the technique I used in this post.

In closing, I'll point out two mini-tributes to Tim and Paula Cheney (his Creative Coordinator) as a way of expressing my gratitude for being asked to participate this year. The word on the label tied to the key was my shout-out to Paula and there's a Remnant Rub on the spoon with Tim's initial.
